Profile notes

Fomapan 100 Classic (ISO 100/21°) is a panchromatically sensitized black-and-white negative film manufactured by Foma Bohemia in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. It uses a cubic silver halide grain structure — rather than the modern tabular grain approach — which gives it a distinctly classic look reminiscent of mid-20th-century emulsions. The film delivers fine grain (RMS granularity ~13.5), excellent resolving power (~130 lp/mm), high contour sharpness, and a rich tonal range with well-separated midtones and highlights. Its spectral sensitivity extends into the deep red portion of the visible spectrum, tapering off around 670 nm, making it broadly panchromatic under both daylight and tungsten illumination. Exposure latitude is generous: the film can be rated anywhere from EI 50 (overexposed 1 stop) to EI 400 (underexposed 2 stops) without altering development. Recommended developers include Foma FO76, Kodak D-76, Ilford ID-11, and Rodinal. Available in 135 and 120 roll formats, as well as large-format sheet film. Suitable for portraiture, landscape, street, and documentary work.
