The Fujica ST901 (1974) was among the **first M42 SLRs with electronic aperture-priority autoexposure**. Successor of the ST801 (mechanical, manual-only). Vertical metal shutter to 1/1000s with 20-second slow speeds (extreme for the era), TTL SPD metering with LED display, EBC Fujinon lens compatibility. The ST901 was Fujica's flagship before they shifted from M42 to the proprietary X-mount in the late 70s.

Released 1974 as the AE successor to the ST801. Production ran 4 years until 1978. Fujica subsequently moved to the AZ-1 (1978) and the X-mount line that ended their M42 era.
For 2026 buyers wanting M42 with aperture priority and the EBC Fujinon lens line, the ST901 is the obvious choice. Used at $100–250. The 20-second slow-speed AE is unusually capable for the era — useful for night photography.
M42: EBC Fujinon line and any other M42 lens.
