The Fujica AZ-1 (1978) is Fujica's final M42-mount SLR. Electronic vertical metal shutter to 1/1000s with **20-second slow speed** (extreme for the era). Aperture-priority autoexposure or manual, TTL SPD with LED display. M42 universal mount with EBC Fujinon lens compatibility. After the AZ-1, Fujica moved to the proprietary AX mount (1980) and ultimately exited the SLR market.

Released 1978 as the AE successor to the ST901. Production ran 3 years until 1981 when Fujica abandoned M42 for the AX mount.
For 2026 buyers wanting the last M42 Fujica, the AZ-1 at $80–200 is the choice. The 20-second slow-speed AE is excellent for night photography. EBC Fujinon lens compatibility.
