Wista started camera production in 1968. The SP (1976) was their press-camera flagship; the 45DX (1980) was the wood-bodied field camera sibling; the Wista RF (1985) was a 6×9 roll-film rangefinder. Production of the SP ran until 2002. Wista is one of the most-respected non-Linhof LF camera makers; their build quality matches Linhof's at slightly lower prices.
For LF photographers who want a metal-bodied press camera with Linhof-compatible accessories at a discount, the Wista SP is the rational choice. Used at $1,000–1,800 — half a Linhof Master Technika's used price. The Linhof Technika lensboard compatibility means existing Linhof-system owners can adopt a Wista as a lighter / cheaper second body without re-buying lensboards.
Linhof Technika lensboards (the same as Linhof Master Technika). Any 4×5 lens (Schneider, Rodenstock, Fujinon, Nikkor) on a Technika board fits. Roll-film backs (Linhof Super Rollex, Sinar Zoom, Horseman). Polaroid 545i back.
