The Technika IV (1956) followed the Technika III (1946) and III V (1953). Production ran 7 years until 1963 when the Technika V succeeded it. The Master Technika (1972) is the IV's grandchild — same fundamental design with refined movements.
For LF photographers wanting a vintage press/field camera with the Linhof name at a discount vs the Master Technika, the Technika IV is the choice. Used at $800–1,500, it's roughly half the price of a comparable Master Technika. Mechanically equivalent for most use cases — same lensboards, similar movements, same rangefinder concept.
Linhof Technika lensboards (small format). Schneider Symmar-S 150/5.6, Schneider Super-Angulon 90/5.6, Rodenstock Sironar-N 150/5.6 — any modern 4×5 lens on a Technika board fits. Roll-film backs (Linhof Super Rollex, Sinar Zoom).
