Released 1984 as the FM2 refresh. Production ran 17 years until 2001 when the FM3A replaced it. Total FM2/FM2n production exceeded 600,000 units across the lineage.
For 2026 buyers, the FM2n is the most-recommended purely mechanical Nikon SLR. Used at $350–700 — slightly above the original FM2's pricing because of the refined flash sync and longer production run. The 1/250s flash sync is a real workflow improvement over the FM2's 1/200s when shooting fill flash.
Same as FM2: F-mount AI/AI-S, AF Nikkors mount in manual focus, MD-12 motor drive, MF-16 data back.
