The Nikon FA Gold (1984) is a **gold-plated limited edition** of the standard FA, produced to commemorate the FA winning the 1984 Camera Grand Prix award (Japan's top camera industry honor). Mechanically identical to the standard FA — same matrix metering, same titanium shutter, same 1/4000s top speed. The differences are entirely cosmetic: **gold-plated top and bottom plates**, gold-plated control dials, special engraved serial numbers. Production was limited to **2,000 units globally**.

Released 1984 as a limited celebration of the FA's Grand Prix win. The standard FA (1983) was the world's first matrix-meter SLR; the Grand Prix win recognized this innovation. Nikon produced 2,000 gold-plated FAs and packaged them with serial-numbered AI-S 50/1.4 lenses.
For Nikon collectors, the FA Gold is investment-grade. Used at $2,500–5,000 — far above the standard FA's $200–300 used pricing. The gold-plated body has aged interestingly; some examples show wear-through patina.
Same as standard FA: F-mount AI/AI-S meter; AF lenses mount in manual focus. Original kit included gold-plated 50/1.4 AI-S lens.
