The Canon TLb-2 is a manual-exposure 35mm SLR in the FD-mount family, positioned below the AE-1 and AT-1 in Canon's early-1970s/mid-1970s consumer line. It shares the FD mount and TTL metering approach of its contemporaries but strips away autoexposure features to deliver a lower price point. The meter aids manual setting of shutter speed and aperture; the photographer does all the work. Build quality is solid if not exceptional.

The TLb-2 follows the original TLb as a minor revision in the lower tier of Canon's SLR lineup. Canon used this slot in the lineup to capture buyers priced out of the AE-1 while still moving them to FD glass. Once the A-series dominated retail shelves in the late 1970s, the TLb variants were phased out.
The TLb-2 occupies the budget end of Canon FD-mount collecting. A functional example can often be found for under $50. For someone primarily interested in using FD glass and not in the camera body itself, it is a serviceable host. Spare parts availability is lower than for AE-1 family bodies, but its simplicity means fewer things to fail.
Canon FD mount. Any FD-mount lens works with full metering. FL-mount lenses function in stop-down metering. Basic accessory shoe for non-dedicated flash. Power Winder compatibility is limited; check model-specific documentation.
