The Canon AT-1 (1976) is the manual-only counterpart to the famous AE-1. Same A-series body chassis, same FD mount, same SPD metering, same electronic shutter — but **no autoexposure modes**. You set both shutter and aperture; the meter shows you whether the result is correctly exposed. The AT-1 was Canon's response to photographers who wanted A-series build quality without paying for AE features.

Released 1976 alongside the AE-1. Production ran 5 years until 1981. The AT-1 was always overshadowed by the more-popular AE-1 (shutter priority) and A-1 (PASM).
For 2026 buyers, the AT-1 is the cheapest A-series Canon. Used at $40–120 — half the AE-1's typical price. Same image quality (same FD lens compatibility), same body feel, same Canon shutter-squeak issue but without the AE-1's mass-market premium.
For someone wanting an FD-mount body for a kit lens or two and not needing AE, the AT-1 is the rational budget choice.
Canon FD mount: any FD lens. Power Winder A or A2. Speedlite 188A or 199A. Same accessories as AE-1.
