The Canon T70 (1984) is the first body in Canon's T-series — the line that bridged the A-series (AE-1, A-1) to the T90 and ultimately the EOS line. **Polycarbonate body** (vs A-series brass/zinc), **large top-plate LCD** for settings display, integrated motor winder (1.5 fps), full PASM modes, **AA batteries** instead of the A-series' 4LR44. TTL center-weighted SPD meter.

Released 1984 as Canon's transition consumer SLR. Production ran 2 years until 1986 when the T90 (pro) and T80 (autofocus consumer) launched. The T70 was the volume seller of the T-series.
For 2026 buyers wanting cheap FD-mount with full PASM, the T70 at $60–150 used is the entry point. AA batteries means no proprietary battery concerns. Trade-off: plastic feel, no autofocus, large LCD susceptible to bleed.
Canon FD system. Speedlite 277T, 244T flash.
