Released March 2002 as the successor to the popular Rebel 2000. Production ran 5 years until 2007, when Canon ended the consumer film SLR line as digital DSLRs took over the market.
For 2026 buyers, the Rebel Ti at $25–80 used is the cheapest "modern Canon film SLR" you can buy — slightly more refined than the Rebel 2000, same general capability. With a $50 50/1.8 II EF lens, you have a complete EF kit for under $130.
