The Yashica FX-3 (1979) and **FX-3 Super 2000** (1986) are budget mechanical SLRs in the Contax/Yashica (C/Y) lens mount. Mechanical horizontal-cloth shutter — the Super 2000 variant added 1/2000s top speed (vs FX-3's 1/1000s). TTL center-weighted SPD metering. Polycarbonate-on-aluminum body, 460 g. Same C/Y mount as Contax bodies — meaning Yashica FX-3 owners can mount **Carl Zeiss Planar, Distagon, Sonnar** lenses at a fraction of Contax body prices.

The original FX-3 (1979) was Yashica's mechanical budget SLR. The FX-3 Super 2000 (1986) added the faster shutter. Production ran 16 years on the Super 2000 — the last Yashica/Kyocera C/Y film body before the brand wound down 2002.
For 2026 buyers who want Carl Zeiss C/Y lenses but can't afford a Contax RTS, the FX-3 Super 2000 is the budget answer. Used at $120–280. Mount any Zeiss Planar 50/1.4, Sonnar 85/2.8, etc. — get the Zeiss optical character on a $200 body.
Contax/Yashica mount: Zeiss Planar/Distagon/Sonnar, Yashica ML lenses.
