The Olympus mju Zoom 105 (sold as the Stylus Zoom 105 or Stylus Zoom 105 DLX in North America) is a 35mm zoom compact from Olympus's mju Zoom family, introduced around 1996. It extends the mju Zoom 80's 38-80mm range to 38-105mm, offering a modest telephoto reach that proved popular for travel and family photography. Like all mju Zoom variants, it sits in a splash-resistant polycarbonate clamshell body: a sliding cover protects the lens when closed and activates the camera when opened.

Olympus built the mju Zoom line through a series of focal-length tiers throughout the 1990s. The 38-80mm model was the entry zoom; the 38-105mm sat one rung above it, matching the telephoto reach consumers expected for portraits and moderate outdoor distances. By the mid-1990s, 105mm had become a de facto standard zoom ceiling for consumer compacts in this class - Canon, Nikon, and Pentax each had competing models at the same focal length. The mju Zoom 105 was Olympus's answer in the weatherproof clamshell segment.
The Stylus Zoom 105 DLX designation applied in certain North American markets indicated a trim variation rather than a mechanical distinction. The line was progressively retired through the early 2000s as Olympus transitioned resources toward its digital compact lineup; the mju Zoom family's film successor effectively became the mju Digital series.
Among the mju Zoom family, the 105mm variant became the most recognised and most discussed model in retrospective film photography communities. Its 38-105mm range is useful without being unwieldy: 38mm covers indoor and environmental shots; 105mm reaches well enough for outdoor portraits and candid compression. The optical quality of the zoom element, while consumer-grade, produces the slightly rounded edges and gentle fall-off characteristic of the mju Zoom aesthetic that has become fashionable in 35mm film revival circles.
The mju Zoom 105 is also one of the few consumer AF compacts from the 1990s that manages genuine weather resistance without sacrificing the clamshell pocketability that made the original mju-I and mju-II so well-regarded. Used prices remain moderate, well below the prime-lens mju-II, making it accessible to first-time film shooters who want a zoom.
